May 1st 2004 Model SKF 2023 is the most powerful of a range of seven portable chamfering and bevelling machines from Surface Technology Products.
With 2.5kW electric motor, variable cutting speed from 6500 to 8500rpm and multi-bladed milling cutter, it is described as the ideal machine for bevelling plate prior to welding.
A large bearing guide on the end of the milling cutter and a circular support make it easy to move the machine along both straight and contoured edges.
Bevel widths of up to 10mm at 30, 45 and 60 are possible and, with the correct choice of milling cutter, the machine will handle mild steel, stainless steel and aluminium. Slightly hardened edges from thermal cutting are no problem. The machine has a patented milling head with up to eight blades, so metal removal rates are said to be several times faster.
