Exported by Britain: Campaign Launches
The All-Party Parliamentary Manufacturing Group (APMG) and the All-Party Parliamentary Design and Innovation Group (APDIG) have launched their second major Parliamentary engagement project focusing on UK-wide industry.
With a marked shift to exports, the APDIG and APMG will expand on the
success of their previous project, Made by Britain, which asked MPs to
nominate an object or product manufactured in their constituencies. It
attracted over 300 nominations including those from the Prime Minister and
the Chancellor of the Exchequer.
Barry Sheerman MP, Co-Chair of both the APMG and the APDIG, praises the
Exported by Britain campaign, stating that: “Time and time again we see that the UK manufacturing and design sectors
continue to be a source of global innovation, and there is plenty of evidence to
suggest that these sectors are in demand overseas.
“Whilst there are some great examples of exporting all over the UK,
government needs to do more to support business to do so and keep the UK
competitive.”
The goals of this campaign are to:
• Put the debate about exporting at the top of the cross-party
political agenda
• Widen public awareness of the scale, variety of and support for
contemporary exporting from the UK
• Promote good examples of exporting in every constituency
• Share resources for businesses looking to export. The APMG and APDIG will do this by writing to every MP to ask them to nominate a product exported from
their constituency, focusing on manufacturing and the creative
industries, launching the project in Parliament with a select group of existing
engaged MPs and their nominations, and launching and maintaining a website with an interactive map of
nominations (including information about the company, product, and
where it is being exported to).
The map will be hosted at
