The Maintenance Management Guide

Welcome to the Essential Guide to Maintenance Management 2026-27, brought to you by the team behind the market-leading, Industrial Plant and Equipment magazine.

IN HIS expert contribution to this year's guide (p.6), UPTIME Consultant MD Andy Gailey raises a relevant point about how industry tends to pursue the next big thing, while overlooking tried and tested methods such as Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM). As he suggests, this is partly due to the fear of being left behind, while the search for time-saving economies is also a factor, even when, as he points out, these aren't always feasible or viable.

Certainly, anyone who's worked with AI comes to realise there is often a degree of over-confi dence about its applications at the current stage of development and that it is frequently more useful as an assistant rather than handing over the reins to it altogether.
