Unlike ultrasonic sensors, the laser sensor is not affected by strong sun, wind, surface turbulence, vapours, condensation, fog or rain; no temperature compensation is needed. The sister device, VEGAPULS WL61 water radar, already has 40,000 units installed world-wide installed in WTWs, STWs, pumping stations, CSOs, digesters, sludge tanks, open channel flow measurement and telemetry gauging stations.

The new S 61 version is a compact loop-powered sensor with ±mm accuracy, range up to 8m with flexible mounting options, which means it easily adapts into new or existing applications.
