An integrated waste management
company has used Belzona’s rapid
curing elastomers for its damaged
conveyor belt.

Belzona’s engineer attended the
site when the recycling system had
been scheduled for a shut down. On
inspection of the belt an L shaped
cut around 300mm along the length
of the belt was found. The belt was
repaired in-situ while the onsite
maintenance team observed.

Firstly the outer skin of the belt
was removed to expose the webbing.

Belzona quick drying conditioner
was then applied and when the
conditioner was touch dry the first
coat of Belzona super rapid
elastomer was applied incorporating
Belzona reinforcing sheet. The
application process was completed
by a further coat of Belzona super
rapid elastomer to encapsulate the
reinforcing sheet.

The process including preparation
and repair took around 1h and
15mins plus a further 1h at 20°C for
the Belzona super rapid elastomer to
cure.
