Following a puncture-free 12 month
trial, Essex-based Ovenden Papers will
fit Michelin tyres on its forklifts. The
paper merchant has historically used
Michelin tyres on its delivery vehicles
but budget branded solid rubber
tyres across its industrial fleet.

Joint MD James Ovenden says:
“We have been both surprised and
impressed by the differences between
economy tyres and Michelin fitments
for our forklifts. The trial lasted 750
hours, which is much longer than we
are used to, and there were no
punctures at all – even though we
operate on high-risk surfaces.

“Our drivers couldn’t believe how
much more comfortable the ride was
– they said they could barely feel any
bumps from the uneven surfaces. As
well as benefiting staff, this also
means our machines are likely to last
longer as they will be better
protected from shocks and jolts.”
