J Sainsbury has installed
Oasis cooling water recycling
units from Waterwise
Technology at its Dartford
distribution depot. The water
purifying systems use
filtration, ion exchange and
reverse osmosis to purify
cooling tower effluent water,
typically enabling 75% of
waste water to be recycled as
fresh make-up.

The efficiency of the
recycling process is said to be
such that the quality of the
recycled water is equal to, or
in most cases better than, the
quality of a mains water
supply.
