ESAB is sponsoring the 2012
ShipWeld competition which
identifies the UK’s outstanding
young welding apprentices. The
competition, now into its fourth year,
will comprise Interyard events
around the UK, with prizes
presented by ESAB. The winner and
runner up from each Interyard
competition will go through to the
final which takes place at BAE
Systems Surface Ships, Portsmouth,
from 9th to 11th October 2012.

Participating yards in 2012 will be:

Surface Ships, Portsmouth; Babcock
Marine, Rosyth; Babcock
Inernational Group, Appledore;

Shipbuilders, Birkenhead
The winner for 2011 and holder of
the ESAB Challenge Cup, is Babcock
International Group, Appledore.

As sponsor of the competition,
ESAB will supply all the welding
machines and consumables for use at
the final. The company’s latest
MIG/MAG/MMA inverter based
welding machines will be used along
with ESAB OK Tubrod 15.14 and
electrodes.
