Whether feedstock is recycled or
virgin, there is always a danger that it
might contain metallic contamination
that can cause damage to extrusion,
injection and blow moulding
machinery. The new Protector-MF
from S+S Inspection has been
designed to detect the smallest
particles of both magnetic and nonmagnetic
contamination. The reject
mechanism removes contaminants
with minimum loss of good material,
even at high rates of throughput.

The detector is mounted directly
above the material infeed point, so
the possibility of contamination of
the feedstock after separation is
eliminated. Protector-MF provides
‘last chance’ protection that
minimises machine downtime and
damage to moulds, nozzles, filters
and hot runners. Sensitivity to detect
metallic impurities as small as 0.5mm
is combined with straight through
flow design to eliminate choking,
even with regranulated material.

The PROTECTOR-MF, designed
for slow moving columns of infeed
material, is available to fit standard
70, 100,120 and 150mm feed pipes.

This complements the size ranges of
the smaller PROTECTOR units.
