When Lerwick Fish Traders replaced
some of its Armstrong laundry
equipment after 15 years hard work,
the company again opted for
Armstrong products in the form of
two 23kg washer-extractors and a
Huebsch 35lb tumble dryer.

The fish processing company
produces 20-25,000t of gutted
salmon per year and is capable of
producing fillets and packing salmon
in less than an hour. This calls for a
team of up to 130 people.

Laundry comprises oilskins, lab
coats and boiler suits, changed at
least once a day, much of it classified
as high risk and much of it stained
with oil and blood as well as general
grime. The laundry handles all this,
plus kitchen cloths, door mats, etc,
and works from 40 to 70h a week.

The new machines are reported to
be better, quicker and more efficient
than the machines they replaced.
