Highly reliable connection and
disconnection of heavy duty power
cables is provided by the 21BV
connector introduced by Multi-
Contact. The 21BV is a round,
single-pole
insulated
connector
that provides reliable
operation for as many as
5000 mating cycles.

Intended applications
include connecting mobile
generator sets, standby power
units, switchgear, event cabling, test
facilities and other uses where
copper cables need to be joined or
plugged into panel-mounted sockets.

The 21BV has a number of
advantages over Multi-Contact’s
comparable 30BV connector; it is
more compact, easier to assemble
and with a higher current carrying
capacity of 800A. It is also less than
half the price of the 30BV.

The 21mm diameter CAT III
connector is well suited for external
use, providing environmental
protection to IP65 and IP68 when
mated, with a
temperature
range of -40 to
+120°C. It is IP2X
touch protected when
unmated. Termination is
by crimping or threaded lug.

The rated voltage is 1000V and
conductor cross-sections between
150 and 400mm2 are accepted.
