quality are at the forefront of
its operations in Maidenhead,
where controlling heat
treatment processes is high
on its list of priorities.

When Hewland decided to
upgrade its hardness-testing
capability, it turned to Zwick
Roell/Indentec for help with
identifying a technically
advanced solution to
accommodate both Vickers
and Rockwell testing
requirements on gears and
associated products.

The Rockwell machine is
used on a daily basis for
routine testing of heat treated
components and the
automated Vickers microhardness
tester is primarily
used for the demanding tests
prescribed by Hewland’s
customers and for quality
assurance inspection.
