FLIR GF-Series infrared cameras are
increasingly being adopted for the
visualisation and documentation of
gas leaks in real time. The equipment
can monitor plant that is difficult to
reach with contact measurement
tools and thousands of components
can be scanned per shift without the
need to interrupt the process. It
reduces repair downtime and
provides verification of the process.

And above all, it is safe, allowing
potentially dangerous leaks to be
monitored from several metres away.

The cameras are designed to
detect a comprehensive range of
greenhouse gases and VOCs
including sulphur hexafluoride
(SF6). Carbon monoxide is another
gas that is easily visible with the
appropriate camera. Such is the
sensitivity of the FLIR design that
even the smallest leaks can be seen.

These leaks appear in real time as
plumes of smoke through the
camera’s viewfinder or LCD.
