Digital revamp extends roll grinder lifecycles
As manufacturers look to extend the life of existing equipment, Pomini Tenova and Siemens have strengthened their partnership to deliver advanced, AI-enabled roll grinder upgrades
POMINI TENOVA and Siemens are taking their long-running partnership into a new phase, focused on modernising and upgrading existing roll grinders to increase productivity, quality and lifecycle value.
The move builds on over four decades of collaboration, with nearly 1,000 Pomini Tenova machines already equipped exclusively with Siemens technologies. For mutual customers, the business benefits include extended machine lifecycles and safeguarding existing investments, while enhancing overall operational efficiency.
Combining process know-how with advanced automation
The partnership draws on the two companies’ complementary expertise. As the OEM, Pomini Tenova contributes deep process know-how and proven technologies in roll grinding, inspection, roll shop automation and digital solutions. Siemens provides advanced CNC-based control systems as well as drive and automation technology.

CNC core upgrade unlocks new machine value
The renewed focus of the partnership emphasises the transition towards autonomous operation through digitalisation, predictive maintenance and Industrial AI. The collaboration will combine Pomini Tenova’s process expertise and roll shop solutions with Siemens’ advanced CNC and automation technologies, based on Sinumerik One, enabling AI-powered autonomous operations.
"Together with Pomini Tenova, we will transform roll grinders by upgrading the machines’ CNC core," explained Sascha Fischer, VP sales for Machine Tool Business at Siemens. "At the same time, we will combine deep domain expertise with advanced digital and future-proof automation technologies, as we do with new machines.
