STERTIL DOCK Products has delivered tailored door solutions across two sites, supporting both a warehouse development in Hook and airside cargo operations at Heathrow Airport.

The company has completed the supply and installation of five industrial doors at a new commercial development in Hook, Hampshire, supporting main contractor Amiri Construction in delivering high-quality warehouse units. 

The project included the installation of five Thermadoor Level Access Doors and five Personal Doors across two newly constructed buildings, divided into three individual units. Designed for durability, thermal efficiency and reliable daily operation, Stertil’s Thermadoors provide secure and efficient access for modern warehouse and logistics environments.

Manufactured with double-skinned galvanised steel panels bonded to high-density polyurethane insulation, the doors are engineered for structural strength and improved thermal performance. 

Available with 40mm or 80mm insulated panels, they support energy efficiency while maintaining long-term durability under frequent use.

The doors are fully compliant with EN 13241-1, CE marked, and wind load tested to EN 12424. Thermadoor systems are also accredited by Secured by Design (SBD), the official police-backed crime prevention initiative, supporting enhanced security and risk reduction across industrial and logistics facilities. 

Tailored installations adapt to site requirements

At the Hook site, each door was manufactured to suit the individual building layout, with track configurations tailored to available headroom and structural requirements. 

Dedicated personal doors provide safe pedestrian access without opening the main door, helping maintain safe working practices and efficient day-to-day operations.

New high-speed door at Heathrow

Meanwhile, Stertil has also recently completed the installation of a new FlexiEdge M2 All Weather high-speed door at Heathrow Airport, supporting operations for DHL Aviation.

The project involved the replacement of a previous Stertil-supplied high-speed door originally installed in 2015. Due to the high-traffic nature of the site, the door is subject to frequent daily use, making reliability and performance essential.

The FlexiEdge M2AW (All Weather) door is engineered for demanding external applications. Its robust design helps maintain operational continuity, even in exposed areas, while delivering the fast opening and closing speeds required in busy logistics environments.

At Heathrow Cargo, the door was mounted level with a raised roller deck, ensuring smooth integration with existing loading infrastructure.

Precision activation in a busy operational zone

Given the constant vehicle and personnel movement in this area, a widescan laser activation system was specified. This enabled fine-tuning of the activation zone on site, ensuring the door responds accurately to approaching traffic without unnecessary openings.

As the project was located within an airport facility, additional planning was required. Working airside can present logistical challenges, with strict access controls and coordination needed. Stertil’s experienced engineering team managed the installation efficiently, completing the project with minimal disruption to DHL Aviation’s operations.
