About us
We have been inspiring progress from the very beginning. Our story goes back to 1871 when Simon Ingersoll patented his steam-powered rock drill. Soon after in 1905, the Ingersoll-Sargent Rock Drill Company merged with the Rand Drill Company. We grew alongside a great nation, carving the face of Mount Rushmore and building mighty landmarks like the Panama Canal and Hoover Dam. Today, Ingersoll Rand employs approximately 40,000 people in more than 60 countries around the world and is a $13 billion global business committed to creating a world of sustainable progress and enduring results.
