AS WINTER approaches, manufacturers are preparing their operations for the challenges that colder temperatures, increased production demands and potential supply-chain disruption can bring. For sites relying on compressed air, ensuring compressors are serviced professionally should be an important part of that preparation.

Compressor manufacturer, CompAir, part of Ingersoll Rand, is urging manufacturers to plan ahead and reduce the risk of unexpected downtime by ensuring the genuine replacement parts required for scheduled maintenance are available when needed.

Through its network of CompAir-approved distributors, the company now offers fixed-price compressor service contracts for up to five years. This provides operators with a structured way to plan their compressor service schedule, helping to control maintenance costs while giving distributors the visibility they need to stock parts and plan resource in advance.

Winter can place additional demands on compressed air systems. Lower temperatures can affect equipment and associated components, while an unexpected compressor failure during a busy Christmas production period can have a significant impact on operations.

“Winter preparation is about more than simply servicing a compressor. It is about making sure the maintenance plan, and the required parts are all ready before they are needed,” said Colin Mander, director of compressed air systems for distribution, Europe and Middle East at Ingersoll Rand.

“A fixed-price service agreement gives customers the opportunity to plan their maintenance in advance, while giving our distributors greater visibility of the parts and support that will be required.

“For businesses where compressed air is critical to production, taking a proactive approach before winter can make a significant difference. Rather than waiting for a problem to occur, planned maintenance helps identify potential issues early and ensures the right components are available to keep equipment operating reliably.”

Service agreements are also supported by the CompAir iConn digital platform that provides both historic and real-time analysis. These can help compressed air users monitor equipment performance, identify potential issues and support production planning, enabling maintenance teams to act before a service issue becomes a more serious and costly problem.

With compressors serviced, genuine parts ready and maintenance planned before winter arrives, businesses can reduce the risk of avoidable delays and help keep their compressed air systems operating reliably.
