Designed for vision inspection systems, machine vision applications and industrial borescopes, PerkinElmer fibre optic illuminators are said to provide energy-efficient, maintenance-free illumination with very long lifetimes of 25,000 hours.

Available via Pacer, the OTFI-0100 is an LED fibre optic illuminator which couples high intensity white light from multiple LEDs into fibre optic light guides ranging from 3-10mm in diameter. It exceeds the brightness of a 150W halogen lamp, and provides an energy-efficient, low heat, low voltage alternative to halogen and metal-halide fibre optic illuminators.

The OTFI-0100 provides a consistent colour temperature over time, and also when the light is dimmed, resulting in a more consistent visual appearance. It also produces virtually no ultraviolet or infrared emissions. The extremely long lifetime of 25,000 hours is 125 times longer than that of a typical 150W halogen lamp.

The LED source is comprised of high-power white LEDs, patent-pending optics to couple light precisely into 3-10 mm fibre optics, heat sink and fan, linear light intensity control, and AC power supply. The LED light engine provides high intensity light from the remote end of the fibre optic bundle.
