The company offers solutions such a LV and MV capacitor banks and, by adding the SineTamer transient surge suppression devices to its range, it can now mitigate a wider range of supraharmonics and other issues.

Founded in 2021, Wömner Power Quality Solutions is a small company based in Istanbul, Türkiye. With around ten staff members, the company is small but has extensive expertise in power quality. It offers solutions including LV and MV capacitor banks, power quality surveys and resonance filters, supporting both industrial and commercial facilities and helping them stabilise their electrical systems.

Following the partnership, Wömner has added SineTamer’s transient frequency attenuation devices (TFAD) to its range. Unlike traditional surge protection devices, these use special frequency attenuation circuitry rather than voltage actuation. Consequently, the device can actively track and follow the sinewave form — protecting all 360 degrees, not just the extremes.

"A growing concern in Türkiye is supraharmonics – voltage and current waveform distortions in the frequency range of 2-150 kHz," explained Faruk Başar, power quality manager at Wömner Power Quality Solutions. "One of the reasons is the increase in EV chargers and other distributed energy resources, which can bring added risks to the grid. However, many traditional devices, such as power and voltage meters, are unable to detect and address these distortions, leaving sites in blind spots.

"Around 80% of our customers are industrial, working in steel, textiles, paper and other associated markets," added Başar. "Capacitor banks were always our core business, but we wanted to branch out further into power quality, which meant adding harmonic mitigation and transient filters to our line. That’s where SineTamer came in. It was the perfect plug for this gap and will help us address supraharmonic issues."
