Mahr Group celebrated its
150th anniversary in 2011,
with worldwide sales of
around €200m taking the
company close to its all-time
record turnover. The UK
subsidiary in Milton Keynes
also enjoyed a record year,
with two more technical sales
engineers joining the team.

A former Rolls-Royce
apprentice turner/miller with
a degree in mechanical
engineering, Gary Bates has
extensive experience within
the metrology market. He
says that Mahr’s emphasis on
applications is a motivating
factor, given that quality
depends on know-how and
applications expertise as
much as on precision gauges
and metrology systems.

Tristan Gluyas has a
degree in computer science
and business studies and has
worked as a sales engineer
with a US-based
manufacturer of optical
inspection equipment.

Based in the Midlands,
Bates will focus primarily on
the application of measuring
systems, as will Gluyas in the
north of England and Scotland.
