SifCeramiBac is a new ceramic
backing, self-adhesive from
Weldability-Sif. It is supplied in
sectional strips, pre-aligned on a selfadhesive
aluminium backing tape to
allow secure, accurate positioning on
the backside of the weld joint.

SIFCeramiBac enables welding to
be carried out from one side only
with full penetration, at the same
time helping to reduce oxidation,
eliminate hydrogen inclusion and it
can be used with every weldable
metal. It is said to allow the use of
increased welding currents as the
ceramic tiles fully support the
molten weld pool, guaranteeing a
sound root profile and eliminating
the risk of burn though.

The increase in the welding
current with supported weld pool
allows increased welding speeds
reducing the arc energy and the heat
affected zone. The adhesive on the
aluminium backing tape remains
stable under high temperatures to
ensure that the backing strip remains
in position during the entire welding
process.
