Balfour Beatty Utility Solutions has
formed a closed loop recycling scheme
with UK plastics recycler, Centriforce,
and V10 Polymers. The scheme allows
waste plastic from up to 100 Balfour
Beatty sites to be recycled into cable
protection covers for Balfour Beatty
to use in maintaining utility assets.

It is estimated that 150 to 200t of
waste plastic could be collected
annually and turned into products
for Balfour Beatty. This amounts to
an estimated carbon saving of
between 2000 and 2500t across the
process of manufacturing new
products, through landfill avoidance
and the reduced need for virgin raw
materials.
