Liverpool has installed three
S+S metal detection systems
to remove even the
smallest pieces of metal
from its recycled
polymer before it
can damage the
extrusion
machines.

Each of the
new systems
uses a two-stage
process. Recycled material is passed
through one of three S+S Rapid
Vario metal separators which remove
both magnetic and non-magnetic
contamination. At this stage there is
an unavoidable loss of good material,
along with contamination.

The highly contaminated material
is then passed through one of three
S+S Presep permanent magnet
separation units that remove all
magnetisable material, including
stainless steel allowing the rejected
good feed stock to be recovered
totally free of metallic contaminants.
