S+S Inspection has redesigned the
Raycon X-ray inspection system to
better meet the needs of the
packaging industry, especially the
food sector, for the detection
of a wide variety of
metallic and non-metallic
contamination in packaged
and unpackaged products. In
addition, X-ray inspection can
identify agglomerated,
deformed, broken and missing
items, even in metallic
packaging.Whole or part product
checkweighing during the inspection
process is a further option to identify
out of specification products.
The new machine uses long-life X
ray tube and proprietary real-time
software running on an industrial
PC. The configuration, with the Xray
source under the conveyor rather
than over the top, has been
retained from earlier models as it
provides full product width
inspection, even for tall
products. Fold-away
covers with safety
interlocks make
cleaning easy and quick to
comply with BRC, IFS and
HACCP standards.

New control and image
processing software is able to
simultaneously inspect up to five
product lines running in parallel at
up to 600 items per minute.
