A leading supplier of tubular
parts to the truck industry,
TSCO, is installing five newgeneration
tube bending
machines from Unison.

The machines will
fabricate a broad range of
parts from brake lines to
exhausts and help the
company keep down costs ad
respond more flexibly to the
just-in-time manufacturing
needs of its clients.

TSCO selected Unison allthe
electric benders over
hydraulic machines for two
main reasons – reductions in
scrap and energy savings.

Over recent years, the batch
sizes requested have become
much smaller and quantities
up to about 50 now account
for a majority of output. By
replicating set-up precisely
under software control,
Unison’s machines typically
eliminate all scrap in day-today
operations. This is said to
save several tens of thousands
of dollars each year per
machine, giving a quick
payback.
