Kone has secured an order
for 41 energy-efficient
elevators for Southmead
Hospital in Bristol which will
open in 2014. The contract
was awarded by Carillion,
main contractor for the €500
million Public Private
Partnership scheme.

The elevators feature
KONE’s regenerative drive
systems which can recover up
to 20% of an elevator’s total
energy consumption,
reducing the building’s
electricity use and providing
cost savings over the lifetime
of the equipment.

This technology will also
help the hospital reach a
BREEAM energy rating of
‘excellent’.
