Waste handling and
equipment company,
Greenbank, has helped
preserve a rare mammal at the same
time as solving a food company’s
waste storage problem.

Hains Celestial-owned Daniels
Group was not able to use more
conventional methods to keep
vermin out of its Grimsby factory
yard for fear of harming water vole
living in a dyke alongside the site.

After requesting help from
Greenbank, the company bought two
self-cleaning, portable compactors
(PCW25s) with automaticallyclosing
lids that keep out birds, and
are designed to prevent a build up of
waste inside the machine that would
then need regular cleaning.

This has resulted in a clean site,
alleviating the risk of food waste
attracting pests, and has led to cost
savings and a greener carbon
footprint for Daniels.

Both machines have a Pulse
Assurance electronic information
system, developed by Greenbank.

This helps to maximise compactor
payloads, minimise transport costs
and reduce machine down time.
