Leading record management and
document archive company, Sala
International, can store up to one
million boxes and cartons at its
recently opened facility in Sherburn,
North Yorkshire. The 92,000ft2 facility
benefits from pallet racking systems
installed by Link 51, which are
designed to optimise both long term
storage and provide an innovative
means of live file retrieval.

“Each of the aisles at the site
provides up to 12 beam levels,”
explains Link 51’s sales director, Keith
Evans, “and, although based on a
conventional back-to-back
configuration, each run also features a
central tunnel through its entire
126m length. This approach allows
two-sided pedestrian access to the
boxes stored at the lower levels –
those most likely to be retrieved
regularly – thereby enabling the
maximum amount of storage space
within the warehouse to be realised.”
