New from Micromech is the PD86-
1180 PANdrive, a full mechatronic
solution including an 86mm flange
high torque motor and a motion
controller/driver using new coolStep
technology for sensorless load
dependent current control, allowing
energy efficient operation of an openloop
stepper motor system.With the
advanced stallGuard2 feature, the load
of the motor can be detected with
high resolution.

The PANdrive can be controlled
via USB, CAN, RS232 or RS485
interface and the power supply,
interface and the multi purpose I/Os
can be connected with JST
connectors. There are
step/direction/enable inputs (with
optical coupling); two inputs for stop
switches (24V compatible), one input
for reference/homing switch (24V
compatible) and one shutdown input.

The nominal supply
voltage range is
24V to 48V.
