A conveyor system that
transports goods between
ground and upper floors with
a high level of reliability and
minimum footprint has been
completed by European
Conveyor Systems for
AarhusKarlshamn UK
(AAK), manufacturer of
specialist oils and fats for
food and cosmetics.

A £4m investment
programme at AAK involved
upgrading the production
facilities and replacing part of
the conveyor system that
links production with the
despatch area and runs partly
at high level on a bridge.

New powered slat conveyors
ensure consistent performance
and reduce maintenance. The
slatted belts are 400mm wide,
to handle tubs and boxes
which weigh up to 20kg.

To raise products from the
ground floor production area
to the upper level 5.8m
above, and to use the least
amount of floor space, ECS
has installed a pair of spiral
conveyors – one taking tubs
and bottle-in-boxes from two
filling lines, the other
dedicated to a bag-in-box line.

The twin line has a nominal
throughput of 36 items/min;
the single line 14 items/min.
