In applications that require counting of objects or parts, attention should be given to the characteristics of the conveyor belt and illumination, so that the contours of the object are clearly visible and a dividing line is created between the objects.

In one such example small raisin-like dates are hurdled close together and touch each other on a vibrating feeder. To separate the queues of fruits visually, a special succession of filters was created with EyeVision 3.0 image processing software. The filters allow to separation and and counting of the dates under these conditions.

In order to adequately illuminate the black dates a white belt conveyor was used.
