The solar-powered lighting tower, the SMC Solar-2 was recognised by the judges for its environmental credentials, which include 100% fuel savings, zero carbon and noise emissions, and minimal service requirements. The tower, which took three years of research and development to produce, is said to be an industry first, and whilst the product itself is completely eco-efficient, its production and manufacture also uses sustainable practices.
