Arran Aromatics has reduced
downtime and achieved more
prints from its ink package
since purchasing for its
candle production line a
Hitachi RX-S small character
continuous ink jet printer
from Allen Coding Systems.

Gordon Robertson,
operations manager, says that
in addition to the printer’s
favourable price point, it is
light enough to be moved
between lines and gives the
flexibility needed.

The RX-S is designed for
accurate reproduction of a
wide range of fonts in multiple
languages, as well as bar
codes and 2D DataMatrix
codes, logos and graphics
directly onto uneven or
flexible substrates such as glass,
plastics, metal and rubber.

It is currently operating at
Arran Aromatics at speeds to
25 units/min, but the company
has also had it running at 40
units/min. There is less downtime
and the company can
switch the printer on without
cleaning the head and expect
it to work every time.
