Owner, Michele Cooper, explains: “We handle a wide variety of moulding for various sectors, including automotive and point of sale, but we were limited in the size of moulding. This opens up opportunities for us on larger pieces, up to 4.2kg compared to the 1.5kg maximum we have been handling.”

A hydroponics (specialist plant container) contract is being handled on the Primax 600R and other opportunities are opening up. To accommodate the larger machine, two plastic injection moulding lines were moved from the manufacturing and assembly hall to the adjacent warehouse and tool store. Another machine, a Sandretto 400, was rotated. Romi handled this machine reorganisation and managed the training once the machine was commissioned.

Michele Cooper says: “The keyboard controls on this latest machine are much easier to use with more programmability than on some of the earlier, more manual machines. It is operator friendly. When we put in a 130t Sandretto machine four years ago we were really impressed by the vastly better energy efficiency and we anticipate a similarly good electricity usage from the Primax 600R.”

This sustainability benefit is important to the company which has strong environment credentials and hopes to have ISO 14001 certification in place by the end of the year. It has long held ISO 9001 quality certification and it has won awards for its service.
