Linear rotary motors
The latest family of motors from LinMot combines a linear motor and a servomotor in a single compact assembly.

Highly dynamic linear rotary motion sequences can be programmed to be either synchronous or completely independent of each other.
This solution was developed in response to demand from machine builders for a more efficient and flexible solution for applications which require both linear and rotary motions, such as threading, closing, pick and place, stacking and aligning.
LinMot has addressed this demand with its PR01 range of motors, where a compact housing contains both an electromagnetic linear drive and a rotary direct drive, each controlled by a servo drive. Position, motion, linear force and rotary torque can be programmed while all electric servo motor technology and significantly lower energy costs than pneumatic alternatives.
Various sizes are available that generate a peak torque ranging from 1.5 to 8.9Nm. Variants include a linear rotary motor with a gearbox for applications which require up to 80Nm torque, hollow shaft and stainless steel components. Quin Systems, LinMot’s distributor in Ireland and the UK can advise on motor sizing and selection for specific applications.
These motors are suitable for bottle capping applications and are said to be particularly attractive for reducing the size and improving the performance of multi-axis carousel closure systems. In comparison with mechanical closure systems, linear rotary motors require up to 60% less time for a closure process which boosts productivity.
