Flexel International has boosted production at its Glenrothes site since it commissioned Optima to overhaul a machine that manufactures Ecofilm underfloor heating elements for laminate and timber flooring.

Optima proposed a total refit of the hydraulic, dancer-controlled rewind stand and upgrading of low performance, single phase, single quadrant DC drives.Mechanical drives were replaced with high performance Siemens AC vector drives with encoders for speed control accuracy. A PID controller web transport system was introduced with loadcell tension transducers fitted at critical positions in the line.
