Index Procon says that by using its
Powered Mobile Racking it is
possible to increase utilisation of
floor space by up to 80% when
compared to conventional racking
systems, while maintaining 100%
access to all storage locations.

The racks are mounted on
electrically powered steel
framed bases running on rails
mounted within the floor slab.

Racks are closed together in
blocks, each with a single
access aisle which is only
opened to enter the required
rack face.Where these aisles
are matched to the number of
forklifts available and managed well,
there is no loss of productivity as the
forklifts can only ever be in one aisle
at a time, says the company.
