Makita is launching a new generation
of metal working tools for the sheet
metal fabrication industry including
cordless nibblers, more powerful
mains metal shears and a 1650W cut
off saw that meets the latest European
safety standards.

The new Makita BJN161 cordless
nibbler is powered by an 18v Lithiumion
battery with 3Ah capacity and
22min recharge time. With a no load
performance of up to 1900
strokes/min, it will cut 1.6mm 16
gauge mild steel; 1.2mm 18Ga
stainless steel and 2.5mm 12Ga
aluminium. The 14.4v BJN160 model
has the same features and
performance. Both nibblers use the
same punch and die set as used on the
mains JN1601 model.
These tools feature the Makitadesigned
anti-restart function, with
warning light that prevents the tool
restarting following a battery change
until the control switch has been
switched to ‘Off’ and then restarted.

The new Makita JS1602 metal
shear is powered by a 380W motor
that will run the blade up to 4000
strokes/min and cut through 2.5mm
aluminium and 1.6mm mild steel.

This new shear has a minimum
cutting radius of 30mm. Weighing
just 1.6kg it has a slim 180mm
diameter body with ergonomically
designed and ribbed housing cover for
sure grip and control.

The latest Makita 2414EN 355mm
metal cut-off saw meets the latest
European safety standards. With a
maximum cutting capacity of 115mm
and a cutting wheel that runs to
3800rpm with a 1650W motor, it has
a 15mm deeper baseplate and taller
clamping fences which prevents the
cutting wheel protruding below the
machine baseplate and making
contact with the bench.
