A new website – dropsafetyequipment.com – has been introduced to educate those visiting the site about the dangers of falling objects to the worker and to their company's investment. It aims to make deployment of dropped object prevention (DOP) simple and easy to follow and will advise on new industry recommended practices , standards and regulations, including the new ISEA 121 Standard that is due to be released later this year.

The company has also announced a 5-part approach (Stop, Think, Attach, Report, Track) to work at height safety to prevent dropped object injuries and/or damage to property or equipment.

•  Before work at height starts, a comprehensive DOP plan must be in place or work should be stopped

•  Think before you work – a worker is responsible for following all company safety policies and procedures

•  Always attach tools to tested and approved tool tethers and tool tether anchors

•  Continue to encourage workers to report their observations and incidents to ensure continuous improvement of the safety system

•  Track meaningful safety indicators and the place where work is being done to visually manage and improve safety policy.

The program is intended to give guidance on when work can start, how to tether tools safely so others can start work, and how to continuously improve the safety management system so that work doesn't need to stop.
