More commonly used for
measuring industrial and
occupational noise, equipment from
Cirrus Research has been used to
measure the loudest cry at the
British Town Crier Championship
in Bridlington, organised by East
Yorkshire Events.

The winner, Paul Gough
(pictured), was found to have a cry
of 98.9dB(A), measured using a
Cirrus optimus red sound level
meter.

The instrument is simple to set up
and operate and uses the latest
digital technology.
