The new maintenance facility at
ScotRail’s Shields Depot features
bespoke inspection pit access
platforms from Semmco. Two types
of pit boards have been supplied – a
GRP version to allow safe access
across the pits at depot floor level,
and an aluminium version with hand
rail and pit ladders to provide both a
working platform at coupling height
and safe access into the pit for
general servicing.

Following completion of this pro-
ject, Semmco has received new
orders from ScotRail for small step
platforms for maintenance work
under trains in the pit, side access
bridge platforms for door and
window maintenance, and also a
range of contour plates for use on
fixed roof gantries.
