The first of S+S Group’s new
Flake Purifiers to be installed
in the UK has been
commissioned at Closed
Loop Recycling’s Dagenham
plant, which converts 35,000t
of used PET and HDPE
bottles into raw material for
new food and drink
packaging every year.

The Flake Purifier uses an
advanced combination of
NIR (Near Infra Red) and
CCD camera technologies to
reliably sort mixed plastics
flakes by both colour and
polymer type.

The new, highly sensitive
technology enables
separation at a high
throughput rate matching
that of the rest of the plant.

This new installation
augments the S+S metal
removal and colour sorting
systems that were installed
when the Dagenham plant
was opened in mid-2009.
