The company presents its efficient and eco-compatible speciality lubricants for ships, offshore installations and other marine applications at the SMM 2014, under the banner ‘Powerfully Natural’ highlighting that many of the latest innovations are using renewable raw materials such as sunflower oils to deliver efficient and effective lubricants into the most specialised and demanding industrial fields.

The new lubricants comply with the 2013 Vessel General Permit requirements of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in terms of biodegradability, minimal toxicity and bio-accumulation have been developed with the EAL’s in mind.

"EAL’s made by Klüber Lubrication are readily biodegradable and non-toxic to marine organisms, which considerably reduces their environmental impact in the event of a leakage", explains Dirk Fabry, business development manager for marine, oil & gas at Klüber Lubrication.

"Our new stern tube oils, high-performance gear oils and hydraulic fluids contain more than 90 per cent  renewable raw materials and bear the European ECO label."

Klüberbio AG 39-602 is a new, eco-compatible adhesive lubricant for open gears and steel cables in contact with water, with a base oil coming from 100 % renewable resources. With its good adhesion to surfaces and water resistance, Klüberbio AG 39-602 leads to long relubrication intervals. Its anticorrosive and wear protective additives as well as adhesive properties reduce lubricant consumption and extend component life.

Stern tube oils of the Klüberbio RM 2 series extend the lifetime of both the seal and the oil due to their good resistance to oxidation and hydrolysis as well as compatibility with elastomer seals. Klüberbio RM 2-oils are approved by well-known manufacturers of propeller shaft seals.

The new, readily biodegradable high-performance gear oils of the Klüberbio EG 2 series offer a high scuffing load capacity, providing reliable protection against fretting damage. Klüberbio EG 2 oils are approved by leading manufacturers of propellers shaft seals and thrusters.

The eco-compatible synthetic hydraulic fluids of the Klüberbio LR 9 series help hydraulic systems get easily started even at low temperatures due to their good viscosity-temperature behaviour and low pour point. They can therefore be used even where temperatures fluctuate considerably.

Besides the most recent product developments, Klüber Lubrication will be presenting further high-performance lubricants for marine applications at the SMM 2014. This includes, in particular, the white adhesive lubricant Klüberplex AG 11-462 for girth gear and rack drives as well as steel cables, the synthetic high-performance gear oil Klübersynth GEM 2-320, the biodegradable low-temperature operational lubricant Klüberbio LG 39-700 for open drives and the rust remover Klüberbio Z 2-5.
