United Drug started in County Mayo
in 1948 and has grown steadily to
become Ireland’s leading
pharmaceutical products distributor
and wholesaler. It also has operations
in Northern Ireland, England, the
Netherlands, Belgium and the USA.

In 2011, the group’s sales reached
€1,747 million.

Distribution manager Christy
Grogan wanted to increase delivery
efficiency and lower costs for
temperature sensitive pharmaceutical
products. Now, United has a fleet of
Olivo BAC 55 chest portable
insulated containers and a few Roll
900 larger containers. It is vital for
United – as with any pharmaceutical
products distributor – to always
maintain the integrity of the product.

Grogan said: “Olivo containers
certainly do this. Our customers are
very pleased with our use of these
containers as the temperature is
always correctly maintained and that
is very important to all of us”.
