Centurion has introduced ArcPro, a
PPE solution that is designed to
protect the head and face against
electric arc flash
hazards.

To ascertain the
protection afforded by
the product, Centurion
worked closely with
DuPont at its ArcMan
facility in Geneva.

The result of the
ArcMan visual testing culminated in
the launch of the Centurion ArcPro
PPE range, which includes a new
polycarbonate face screen. The
system can be worn as helmet- or
headband-mounted, with or without
chin guard protection. Neither Nylon
nor metal parts are used in the
helmets, browguards, sweatbands or
ear defenders, and they
will protect the wearer in
the event of an Arc Flash
incident of 40cal/cm2.

To put things into
context, an Arc Flash
incident with a calorie
rating of 1.2cal/cm2 is
equivalent to a 2nd degree
burn to bare skin and an 8cal/cm2 is
equivalent to a 3rd degree burn.

Most Arc Flash incidents are higher
than 8cal/cm2.
