Reducing pressure drop and cutting costs
Compressed air is an expensive, but important resource and there is a growing awareness that there are big opportunities to save time and money in its delivery to tools and machines. CEJN explains that reducing pressure drop offers a solution.
• It is a fact that every 1 bar in pressure drop across a pneumatic system that you avoid saves 10% running cost at the compressor
• Many pressure drops are in the order of 2 to 4 bar from the outlet pipe to the tool, particularly if the fittings are old
Assume a pressure drop of 3 bar and compressor bill of £200,000. CEJN says that reducing the pressure drop to 0.3 bar would result in substantial savings: 10% x 2.7 bar x £200,000 = £54,000 saving every year.
CEJN has designed its pneumatic range to have a very low pressure drop. The company says many of its customers are switching to its high flow range to avoid pressure drop and are now reaping the savings.
