Two British boiler makers were invited to site and quoted for new boilers. Corbyn then decided to ask local boiler specialist, Kings Boiler Hire if it could offer prices for equivalent refurbished boiler units.

Kings offered Skinners a matching pair of 4400kgs/h 10 bar boilers complete with duel fuel burners at a significant reduced cost, and direct from stock. After taking his quotations to Skinner’s board, Corbyn returned to Kings with an order for a matching pair of boilers, which allowed the factory to have duty stand-by operation.

In addition to the boilers, Kings provided Skinners with a refurbished stainless steel hotwell, a blow down vessel and everything required to create a new boiler house. The equipment was refurbished at Kings' Suffolk workshops (just 38 miles from Skinner’s Mill) and delivered in just a few weeks and installed. The boiler house is now up and running and the old boiler house is being demolished to make way for further production area.

 Skinners is extremely pleased with the boilers and equipment, saying: “They seem as good as new and came with the same 5 year NDT certification as any new boiler”. By going to Kings, Skinners has saved time and money and has the reassurance of local back-up if it is needed.
