Liebherr GB Ltd has also been named as a TOP100 employer of apprentices in the country. The application was then put forward against other regional winners and the company has been notified of its success as a finalist and will go to Grosvenor House Hotel in January to find out if it is a winner or highly commended. 

The Awards, now in their twelfth year, are run by the National Apprenticeship Service and recognise excellence in two areas: businesses that grow their own talent with apprentices and apprentices who have made a significant contribution to their workplaces.

On accepting the award, Lee Mason (Apprentice Programme Generalist for LGB) said: 

“This is an unbelievable accomplishment. I can’t believe we were up against an increased number of quality entries this year and we won for the third year in a row. Once again, it is testament to those involved in the whole process. We are getting superb results from our programme. The apprentices are achieving great things, the mentoring is outstanding and as a business, we are reaping the rewards. Apprentices are the lifeblood of the business going forward and are definitely adding value to our workforce and support systems for our products. Long may it continue”.

“We can only have good things to say about apprenticeships and will continue to champion them aswell as offering support to those that want to start”.

Liebherr GB placed more focus on their apprenticeship programme and are constantly opening more opportunities. Not only are young people coming into the business and beginning a journey, but current staff are now embarking on and going through an apprenticeship. 

Apprenticeships work fantastically well for the business and offer a smart approach to learning and development as it sits alongside what they are already doing with minimal disruption. At the same time the staff feel valued and trained to a higher level.

They enable people to gain the skills and knowledge they need to succeed, in some cases up to degree level, while working and earning. And for businesses, hiring apprentices is a productive and effective way for them to grow their own talent by developing a motivated, skilled and qualified workforce. 

“The National Apprenticeship Awards enable talented apprentices and committed employers to receive the recognition they richly deserve. They not only help celebrate the achievements of apprentices and businesses, allowing them to gain the credit for investing in their own futures, but they drive up quality and encourage others to get involved. 

“Liebherr GB has been recognised as winner of the East Midlands Large Employer of the Year and I would like to congratulate them on their achievement. They deserve to be rewarded for their efforts. There has never been a better time to become an apprentice or employ one.”
