MD of Bernstein, Rob Emms, says: “The major benefit of these products is that they operate without contact and can safeguard access points without barriers, which are essential in some production processes.

“Every time the protective field is entered, the Stop signal for the machine or system is triggered. Depending on the guard’s detection capability, a finger (at 14mm resolution), a hand (at 30mm resolution) or a body (at 70mm resolution) is sufficient to do this.

“Depending on the design of the guards, the protective field can be between 200 and 1800mm in height and 0.5 and 15m or 30m wide, which offers great versatility of use. They are also easy to set up and can be aligned without the use of tools,” he added.

Both products have complete type spectrum Type 2 and Type 4 in accordance with safety standard EN 61496, SOC 2 for control categories 2 or 3 and SOC 4 for category 4 which conforms with EN ISO 13849-1. They also have a protection rating of IP65, meaning they are completely dust tight and will also cope with water being projected by a nozzle (6.3mm) from any direction.

Also available is a simple blanking programme with fail-safe PNP outputs and potential-free solid-state relay. Signal can be directly implemented to a safety controller or can be connected to the Bernstein safety relay SCR ON.

Accessories include mounting posts, passive reflectors and cable couplings and special versions are also available with glass front, fixed cable connection or pre-programmed blanking possible.
