Fulton’s new modulating burner
uses a linkageless burner management
system to operate two modulating
actuators: one regulating the flow of
gas; the other adjusting air flow to
ensure optimum combustion across
the full firing
range of the
boiler. Each
valve can be
adjusted by as
little as 0.1°,
allowing small
adjustments to
be made to
output.

Gas flowing in is controlled by
two fuel valves, one acting as a safety
shut-off, the other as a constant
pressure governor. Burner output is
regulated via a pressure transducer
and controller using a 4-20mA signal.

Initial results of a trial at Cardiff
University show a significant
reduction in gas consumption and
savings on electricity too.
